<VV> 2013 Corvair Olympics Update

      As you know, the NECC’s 2013 “Corvair Olympics” is scheduled for      June 20-21-22 in and around Danville, Virginia.  The event      includes three distinct segments on three consecutive days:       High-speed lapping and time trials on the 1.65-mile south course      at Virginia International Raceway, drag racing at the 1/8-mile      Roxboro Motorsports Dragway, and a classic autocross on the 300 x      300 skidpad at VIR.
      
      HOWEVER, advance registrations for this event have been lagging      behind expectations and in just a few days the NECC will reach a      critical deadline, at which time a commitment has to be made to      the facilities.  Without a significant uptick in registrations,      the NECC may have to cancel the event rather than incur a large      financial loss.
      
      So... if you are planning to participate in one, two, or all three      of the Corvair Olympic segments and you have not yet registered,      please do so now.       In addition to the three signature activities, a unique “Taste of      the Track” option is offered for first-time participants.  This is      a fabulous opportunity to drive on the world-famous VIR track in      your street car.  Plus, an available “Gold Medal Performance      Package” combines the affordable “Taste of the Track” option with      full entry onto the drag racing and autocross segments.
      
      Remember, the event is not restricted to Corvairs nor to Corvair      club members – all cars and all persons are welcomed (safety      requirements apply, see the web page for details).  Invite your      friends!
      
      A special discount lodging rate for the Corvair Olympics has been      arranged at the Comfort Inn in Danville, Virginia.  The rate is      $75 per night plus tax, and it is good for Wednesday June 19 to      Sunday 23 June.  The front desk will be holding a number of rooms      at this rate only until May 19, so don’t wait to make your room      reservations.  The hotel phone is 434-793-2000.
