<VV> How. To adj shifter four speed

From having been removed and a new four speed installed can someone give me some steps as to how to adjust the shifter linkage on a lm coupe with a four speed. The shop manual is not that detailed. The coupler was removed from the tube for clean up so this May not be properly orientated on the rod? How do u find reverse on the trans? Do the adj need to be made with the trans in a certain gear?
