<VV> 63 rear brake/parking brake questions

I've had problems with noise from the rear brakes on the 63 coupe and I'm
trying to make sure everything is right this time before putting the drums
on.

I did check both the shop manual and the tech guide but I wasn't able to
find any drawings or pictures that made me confident that all is well.

The first thing I've noticed is that the parking brake arm is actually
blocking the hole that the retainer pin goes through on the rear shoe. As
it is I will have to manually move the parking brake arm out of the way to
be able to put the retainer pin in place. Obviously it is difficult to
tell if the shoes are properly in place without the retainer pins in, but
it looks as though the parking brake arm is going to be resting up against
the locator pin when driving the car. Is this normal, or if it is not,
does this mean the cable is out of adjustment?

The other question is probably a dumb one. I have a replacement parking
brake cable (the rear part that goes to the brakes themselves) that I was
installing to replace the very rusty one but those fingered spring clips
are broken. They are both loose on the cable and one is missing one
finger. This is a really good cable otherwise, is there any fix for this
or do I have to find another replacement cable?

Thanks everyone,
