IV,

Over the past decades many cables have become deformed or bent by heavy resistance from binding doors or rusty cables.  Disconnect the cable from the door and then work it by hand.  Look for bowing in the cable sheathing that will indicate binding or a bent cable.  Lube the cable at each end and work the lube in until the cable slides easily.  Then reconnect it to the door.  If it still is hard to push then the door is the problem.
