Frequently the ground between the antenna mount sleeve (the metal part that goes through the fender hole) and the antenna cable builds up resistance. Take the antenna base out of the fender , dissemble everything, clean and reassemble.

</div>here is a recent phenomenon. my stock am radio with exact repro antenna had been playing loud and clear. until today. the volume was poor, and i notice that if i hold the antenna while standing on the ground, i get full volume. when i let go of the antenna, poor volume. this is the mast of the antenna, not the base. this does not occur if i am sitting in the passenger seat holding the mast. i know something is grounding, but i took everything apart and even tried other antenna cable that i had on hand to no avail. i would be interested to hear of solutions, is there some sort of extra ground wire i can run? also, has anyone used one of those hidden antenna that i see offered on ebay? thanks, jim
