There's potassium hydroxide in this stuff, and over time, with a bit of water, and the can will corrode. At least the original formulation did...

It could have easily been the solvent that "solved" it's way through the
bottom of the can. It was many years ago. Basic lesson learned though, watch

The water does cover the surface as the cleaner is a two phse system.
