#1. The cap and rotor should last 10 times longer with a high energy
ignition. Instead of lower voltage higher amperage, the spark delivered
with pertronix  is high voltage and low amperage, its the current flow
(amperage) that erodes ignition parts.
#2. My car was doing the same thing and it was a combination of timing and
carb balance/idle speed/idle mixture.
