<VV> corvair ash tray/dish?

Hi guys.  Missy got me this on ebay for Valentines day and the seller and
myself are wondering if anyone knows anything about this item?

It more or less appears to be an ashtray, but it doesn't have any of the
usual depressions for holding cigarettes like most ashtrays I've seen.

If anyone knows for sure what this is, and also anything about when it was
made and who distributed it we would be interested to hear.  Any
information at all is welcome

I currently don't have enough time to keep up with the list so please cc my
