Frank, if you wanted to know, you would learn very quickly the shortcomings
of the carburation system. It might help you determine which generation
carb you want on  your engine because the later generation carbs fill in
some of those bad spots with enrichment circuits, bleeds, etc. It would
also help you determine which jets are approriate and you would end up with
the best of the best for a carburation system.

That's all well and good, but there is a reason why auto manufaturers went
to the more advanced computerized systems. More advanced control of the
engines means smoother running cleaner running engines.

I still plan to install a EFIsystem to also help with reliability of
components, but thats a year or two down the road.
