<VV> old gas

I've had carbs stop up in less than a year and others that work after 15 years. I just moved one of my cars that hadn't run in almost 15 years. I filled the carbs with gas put in a new battery and it fired right up. The starter was a little goofy. The second time I started it required hitting the key 15 or 20 times to get it to start turning over. It acted like the solenoid wasn't sending any juice to the starter. The fuel pump wouldn't work until I blew a little air back from the pump to the tank. I probably blew a gummed up sock off the pickup.
How's that for an old mechanical pump? No telling how old the pump was when parked. I'm not going to hold my breath on how long it will last...
I also replaced the rubber line at the tank.
It idles perfectly and the accelerator pumps even seem to be working fine.
It has a lifter that won't quiet down. I'll change the oil and see how it does.
I wish the tires fared as well. Only two hold air the oldest tire seems fine and the newest tire has a big chunk of the tread coming off.

Thanks to all for the input. I'm going to drain the gas and put fresh in it. I have an area I need the weeds killed and it's, not that big a job to drain it out. I had a bad experience once when I didn't drain the gas out that was a lot older. It was probably 12-13 yr old gas though. Ken

However if you fill the carbs with gas and let it sit for a day or 2 sometimes they'll clear themselves. I think the gas softens the gum and the carbs will start working with out tearing them down.
