A friend is working on an engine to put into his microbus. The engine
was bought used some years ago, and it has a plate replacing the bell
housing to mount to a VW transaxle, along with flywheel and clutch. When
we pulled the distributor, the drive gear was reverse of a standard dist.
that was used for comparison, which seems to indicate a revere cam. He
has taken the engine apart, and the number on the cam is 6255610 - GM-12.
I have a 1970 GM parts manual and this cam is not listed. Is it
possible that this is indeed a reverse rotation cam?
