<VV> Tranny and rear axle oil

Sorry this thread is so long. But I think this is important.Like everyone else I needed a good gear oil for a freshly rebuilt 4 spider posi transaxle. This is for my street/track 66 Monza.  I too found nothing on the shelf that fit my needs. So I went to my local speed shop because they had Redline oils on the shelf. I selected MTL 70W80 oil with an API GL-4 rating. The bottle said it was for manual transaxles. Perfect I thought. Not! The shifting was very balky. So I contacted Redline and they were very helpful and said to use 75W90 NS oil instead. So I found some at the racetrack and bought 2 Quarts. One of my Spring projects is to change to this oil. While this doesn't have the GL-4 rating it must work as Mike Levine has been using it in his 500 plus HP V8 racecar with great success. Redline claims this oil has the friction modifier to help shifting. So I will let the group know my results.Paul Fox

JR,  Send an e-mail to the contact I gave you at Red Line.  Describe the
application in detail;  Corvair, shared sump, hypoid gears, brass
syncros, posi if you have it, etc.  You can also tell him what kind of
driving you do.  He will tell you if they have an appropriate product.
He will tell you if they don't have what you need.  He may suggest
alternatives.  The RedLine guys are deeply involved in what they do.  --J.B.
