Well, Rick, that brought to mind a little failure I experienced in 2004.
Mary & I were meandering back from the Napa wineries area toward Florida in
my new 35 ft. Jayco Ford V-10 Class A, and crossing the central part of
New Mexico. I remember seeing black lava flow rock on the sides of the
2 lane hwy. For sure, There was nothing out there. Came upon a long
downhill straight run and decided it was a good place to see what the wandering
Jayco's top speed was. :-)

I could see where the terrain dipped and flattened out, way up ahead. Got
to the bottom of the run and that dip was more pronounced that I had
anticipated. W H A M !!!!!!! The front end of the directionally unstable RV
had bottomed out. I got out and checked for damage. On one of the front
power jacks, the coil-over spring was partially off the shaft and twisted
like a pretzel. Now I already knew that the front end of the coach was
somewhat lower than the rear. Layed a tape on the front and got approx 7" of
bottom-of-jack to road clearance. The rears were something like 11 inches.
I called Jayco and they sent me to the jack manufacturer - who sent me a
free, new spring.

When I asked Jayco why they built the coach with such minimal front end
clearance, they just shrugged their shoulders (on the phone), and said they
were all like that. Well thank you.........

Reminds me of a boss of mine back in the sixties who had a new Corvair
which had a carb. "stumbling" problem. He said he took it to the Chevy
dealership and they said it was alright. "Just drive it and it will go away."
