Bob,
      That's why Corvairs need a TACHOMETER as well as an engine TEMP. 
gauge.  When I was driving my Pontiac Transport on the highway, I could 
always check the tach to make sure I was in the highest gear possible  
(60 mph should be 1800 rpm) to make sure I wasn't excessively 
contributing to "Global Warming" and possibly invoking the wrath of Al 
Gore!!!!!

Rampsides are quiet.  Decades ago, riding in a friend's Rampside,
sailing along near 50 mph, he suddenly realized that the shift lever 
was
in 'low' and the engine was turning at 89,000 rpm or so.  He upshifted,
and we drove on...
