One other note. The tube that normally slides down into the top cover, and  
up into the stock air cleaner has the little orifice on the side that 
connects  with a hose to the crossover tube? Make sure that orifice has not been  
opened up. It is a direct air leak into the intake manifolds and can cause 
all  sorts of strange behavior. I chased my tail once on a car where someone 
had  "Cleaned out" the orifice by drilling it out to 1/8". I replaced the 
tube and  the idle completely changed. Worth checking and "free"! -Seth
