Excessive crankcase pressure from what you've mentioned won't blow a filter,
just excessive oil pressure. Crankcase pressure will blow oil out the
dipstick or breather.

OR---It's a bad filter.
Or---There's a holed piston
Or---There's a piston that has melted down on one side because the shrouding
that goes under the jugs wasn't replaced---Don't ask me how I know that one.
Or--Perhaps the car's just in dire need of a ring job, and there is
excessive pressurization in the crank-case.

Had friend call me to look at an oil problem on his Vair. Oil was sprayed
all over the engine bay and investigation showed a new Clarks oil filter
cocked to one side and the seal as sticking out. Appears that the pressure
relief has stuck.
Any one had this problem in the past? Lots of work ahead.
