Yes, the 51R fits very nicely. I bought one at Walmart a few days before
locating a new Duracell group 53 at Batteriesplus.
I¹m now keeping the 51R in my garage as a general purpose back-up battery.
Another advantage of the 51R is that it is maintenance free.

For my 62 Monza and my 63 Greenbrier, I use a group 51R battery, have been
using those for years. Still available, still affordable, get them anywhere.
Likely for half the cost of a fork truck battery. Got both of mine at NAPA,
but you can get them anywhere.

They fit just fine, though not as long as the Group 53 that was original.
But they do have more Cold Cranking Amps than the original.
