<VV> transmission/diff. oil

recent discussion on oil for trans/diff..  I don't remember what the best or appropriate oil would be best.  I recently bought a '66 coupe and want to change oil before driving it much..  Already changed engine oil.  The stuff in there was worst oil I've ever seen.  Car is a '66 500 coupe with only 44,000 miles on it, no rust no dents, just happened to come across the car.  Has all the paperwork from the original 0wner and the metal plate from the dealer.
