<VV> Puling motor

Depends on the type of engine and if late/early, a turbo needs more
clearance than others.

I use a motorcycle/atv jack for my '63 Spyder, the engine and trans balance
flat on it. With only the back of the car jacked up (pretty high), it is
tall enough for the front attachment to the yoke, then I use a floor jack
at the rear motor mount for the last couple of inches.

to remove the engine and transaxle (with
shifter/clutch/swingarms/fuel/throttle linkage/electrical/etc already
unhooked) , I put the motorcycle jack in sideways with the forward-most
lift bar (closest to the front of the car) just forward of the balance
point of the engine/transaxle combo and jack it up to meet. Then I put a
regular floor jack up to the rear motor mount. I unbolt the rear motor
mount, and loosen the front mounts a little, then lower the rear jack until
the engine is resting flat on the motorcycle jack (on both lift bars now).
Now unbolt the front mounts and lower the combo on the motorcycle jack -
watch for stuff you forgot to unhook from the body. Spin the jack 90
degrees and roll out of the back.

Installation is the reverse, with the combo resting flat on the motorcycle
jack: roll it in from the rear of the car and spin 90 degrees once it's in
place, jack up the motorcycle jack to get the bolts on the front mount. Use
a small hammer (like 2 or 3 pounds) for 'fine alignment' front to back
because the wheels of the jack move the combo side-to-side in this
position. Once the front mount bolts have been started, then a floor jack
to lift the rear mount up to the body.
