Breakers are sort of OK, a Maxi Fuse would be even better. Less resistance for one thing. Something like this:

I have used a surface mount 60 A circuit breaker to repair a few of those ,
your choise to use both terminals , adding breaker or not , it was just a
quick easy repair. it mounts with tab on case , has 2 screw terminals.
