Smitty Says: Quick and dirty way to get home. Get a piece of wire # 14
or so about 18 inches long. Left forward corner of the engine compartment
there is a large wire bundle going to a connector. There is also a pair of
wires coming through another grommet right nearby. A heavy purple and a
lighter yellow. Jumper with your wire from the purple wire to the positive
post of the battery. No need to disconnect the coupling. Just shove the
bare end of the wire up inside the back of the socket
WARNING ; This bypasses all the forward electrical including the safeties.
Make sure the transmission is out of gear. Powerglide or stick either one
can take off down the street. This also proves that the solenoid is not at
fault.
Most experienced Corvair people just pull the dipstick and shove the end of
it into the back of the connector. then lean the side of it against the
battery post.
