<VV> Changing C878 Power Glide gear shift o-ring. How to get the rod off?

That "push rod" (it is not a push rod) is the rear section of the cable. It is held to the transmission with a 1/4 X 20 short bolt. The bolt holding on the filter is quite often... missing. Seems to not be all that needed as Chevrolet just didn't install them You can install one (also a REAL short 1/4 X 20 screw). I have seen some with a slotted head screw. You don't have the TV linkage properly on with the shift cable ball.
