<VV> electrical mystery

As a troubleshooting method, unhook the positive lead from the battery and put a tail light bulb in series with the disconnected battery cable. Any reasonable current drain will light the bulb. Start fiddling with stuff until the bulb goes out. Don'y worry about zapping something, the bulf will limit the current. Worst case scenario, the bulb will go to full illumination.

Whatever it is, it's probably getting warm. Try feeling the alternator
after the car has been standing a few hours. Or look for anything else
getting warm. I would put an ammeter on the batter to see how much
current is being drawn.
