<VV> Need advice for 15x7 rims on a '66 CORSA - please...

I’ve been using 16X8 Camaro IROC-Z wheels on my ’65 Corsa for almost 20 years.  They are marked “REAR.”   The IROC-Z Camaro had a narrower wheel in the front [I think 7”] for clearance.  On my Corvair, no problem.  I have 205/50 R16 tires on it which approximates the 7.00X13 tire diameter.  I’m selling the car in the spring as a parts car.  It has major rust at the rear trailing arm mount as well as elsewhere.  It also dropped a valve seat on #3 exhaust last summer.  I’ve put 90,000 miles on it over the past 22 years so I can’t complain!  I’m going to miss it though; it was great fun to drive everyday.  If anyone wants to see what the car looks like with the wheels, just let me know.

I should say my rims came off 88-90 IROC Z aluminum.

Ray,

Ideal backspace for a 7" rim would be >< 4.75. I have 15x7 IROC Camaro rims on the front of my LM. Backspace is 3.5". The steering is a bit twitchy on bumpy roads due to the less than ideal backspace.

I moved my 16x8" wheels to the front with 5.25 backspace and it is less twitchy, so backspace is important. Tire dia. is important. Wider tires mean more contact area with road which = more feedback through the steering wheel.

Bryan Blackwell has a great page about this.

I'm interested in a set of rims for my '66 CORSA.

They are advertised as : 15x7 wheels and tires, 5x3/4 bolt pattern (came
off of a Camaro)

What offset should I look for?

And what is tire dimension/width specs to fit/steer well?

-OR- is this a lost cause?

Any help here would be appreciated, as the rims/wheels are being advertised,
and I'd like to make a decision/purchase this wkend.

Thanks much!
