A side benefit of doing this is you have a nice bright trouble light is case
you need to do a road-side fan belt install.  If you unplug the tail light
and bring it into the "engine room" it will continue to burn. Unplug both
sides and it gets really bright.

There are all metal sockets you can get with a tab for a connector, run a
wire from there to the body.
