I didn't remember parting out any Powerglide cars.  But I have 2 boxes full of little bits that I could look through.  I found these, which I am pretty sure is what you are dealing with.  Maybe you can combine these pictures with Bill's description to figure out how to remove them.  These were obviously removed by prying, which straightened at least one hook on each clip.  I wonder if going in under one side with a putty knife and hammering on the putty knife would as least partly get them to release.
