I could be wrong but it seems to me you have answered your own question.  Engine ran fine with two carbs on stand.  Runs funky on turbo carb.  If you don’t have a spare I would recommend borrowing one for a while. Of course you need to double check for gasket vacuum leaks/ hoses etc.
