The side bearings are larger than what's in a Corvair transaxle. And being a spiral bevel final drive, the gear loads are lower than in a hypoid drive.

Amazing workmanship!  

I'm puzzled by the transaxle however.  Not sure what it's from - Porsche?
But I didn't think any like this could take the axle side-loads as the upper
link for the suspension?
