<VV> TURBO PG

Like others have said, a Powerglide behind (ahead?) of a turbo engine
might sound like a good idea...  GM at one time must have thought so
itself, considering that behind the Spyder instrument clusters is a
mounting boss for a Powerglide shifter.   It's kinda like GM's
originally intending all Corvairs starting with the '60 models to have a
front sway bar.

However, testing showed the turbo engine with a PG tended to stay in
boost half the time, which wasn't a great thing for the engines'
lifespan.  Thus, no Powerglides in Spyders or Turbo Corsas.

Now, that said:     I know someone who put a modified turbo engine in a
Corvair with a PG transmission.   Yes it ran very strong and he enjoyed
it.  In fact he enjoyed it so much he got "into it" a LOT.   It didn't
take long for it to loosen up, (that's a euphemism for "wear out") and
eventually begin using oil.   He sold it not long after.

You wanna put a turbo engine in a PG Corvair?   Treat it kindly and
LEARN how to drive it and how to Tune it, and make sure you run high
test, as high as you can find, and maybe you can get away with it and
make it live.   Run it hard, and you'll live to regret the engine that
won't live.

PS:  If you like Spyder dashes and want to put one in your Powerglide FC
or your 4-door 102hp Monza, tap the mounting holes in the mount boss for
a PG shifter (the cluster has the mounting holes but they aren't
pre-tapped) and then carve out the rectangular hole for the shifter
lever.  It's already outlined and marked, easy to do.
