For a given mirror size, the farther it is from you the smaller it 
appears. If it is convex, that shrinks the size of viewed objects.
So there are trade offs between image size and closeness to forward view 
line.
It seems that we in the US prefer a larger view to the forward location.
Also, of course, we should be looking all around, and not only to the front!
