Gas tank sending unit has nothing to do with the temp/press light.

Have you simply hooked a jumper wire from the terminal of the oil 
pressure switch to engine ground to see if the Temp/Press light comes 
on? If the light comes on with the jumper then it is just a defective 
switch. If the light does not come on, then check the lamp in the gauge 
cluster.

Yes, there can be an open in the dash, body or engine harness, so 
testing either end of this chain gets us to where tests need to be made 
next.
