Hi Gary,
I saw a Youtube video where a guy used a propane camping heater under a
metal garbage can to make a hot water parts cleaner. I felt that
ultrasonic parts cleaner might be too expensive for me considering the
relatively large size for a half block or single head. A lot of the
shops I saw used hot water parts cleaners. I am thinking of finding a
larger metal baking type of pan for the parts cleaner that should hold
heads and engine halves. That size should cover most of my needs.
Since I had the propane camping heater, I will weld up some reinforcing
bars to make a "stand" for the propane heater and a base for the large
heated pan and/or metal garbage can, possibly cut down. I have the
"purple power" cleaner. I tried using oven cleaner, but you cannot
leave it on aluminum for more than about 10 minutes or it turns the
aluminum dark. I also have a pressure washer to use after the hot water
loosens up the gunk.
Good luck,
Larry
