<VV> Smitty’s Funeral

Smitty’s funeral was held yesterday in Virginia Beach. 

Approximately 50 people attended, coming from far across the country, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, and, of course, Virginia. 

John Gilliland and Paul Whelan presented lovely eulogies and I presented a video slide show highlighting his life.

Several Corvairs were also there, including Smitty’s beloved race car, Spike, newly restored by Noah Whelan.

Afterwards we retired to the home of John and Barbara Gilliland to fellowship and celebrate Smitty’s incredible life. 

Look forward to Paul’s presentation to be published in an upcoming Corsa Comminique.  I’ll also try to post my video, if I can get it past the You Tube copyright filters (I synched the slides to “Moving On” - the closing theme from the TV show “Lost” finale).
