Early models it is WAY easier to remove the drivetrain as a unit. It
will save time. Separate the engine from the differential on the floor
then separate the transmission from the differential. Do take the cover
off the transmission, as it shares fluid with the differential, so any
broken bits may get into the transmission, causing harm there.
Don't forget to unscrew the speedometer cable....😉
Sure an axle yoke has not worn the splines out? That is a much easier
repair, and more common.
Your differential is supposed to be a 3.55 to 1. 3.27 to 1 units are
more common, as they came in most manual 500, 700 and Monza models in
earlies.
