[1969] Ellis Newsletter

Sarah,
Thanks for your input and support for getting the last newsletter out. I don't know who was sending you scolding emails about ignoring Eve's request but it sure wasn't me. I heard from Eve that she didn't hear from you but that was it.
I did mention in one email that Eve said she wasn't getting any responses to her emails to Marvin or the new editor. This was way before she lost her computer access and I was having no problem emailing her and receiving her emails. Eve stated that she was distressed by the lack of response. She even sent Mark's last mailing list to Marvin and got no response. Then the new editor used an older list instead.
I personally believe there was a lapse of communication effort that was not all her fault.
I sent a message to the group saying that Eve was not hearing from anyone. She was wondering about the newsletter so I offered to pay $50 of the expenses to get the ball rolling. No one replied to me....not you, Marvin, the new editor, zip. No one replied to say the group didn't need the money. It seemed I was getting the same level of communication that she was.
At least we've got things moving now and I'll tell you how much it will cost as soon as I hear from Eve.
Dave

All,
I want to comment on what David R. has posted below.
As for the unfinished newsletter..I personally tried to make this happen back early on with Eve. I'm not sure why the newsletter hasn't gone out. I can tell you it has NOTHING to do with lack of money. I can also tell you it hasn't been for lack of trying on the part of the officers. I do know that Wade Lanning spent MANY months trying to get this done and got very frustrated.
At this point..no one needs to send donations. We have the money. If you insist on sending them then follow the proper channels and send them to the treasurer, Ed Thompson. Ed will provide an address to send the check to. When the newsletter arrives at the printer, Ed should be contacted with the price for printing and then he will pay the printer direct. Once we know how many newsletters are going out, the 69 club will also provide the stamps.
As for the comments regarding we the officers haven't been in touch with Eve, here is what I can tell you. Eve sent me an email asking for information regarding which 69's were in Jacksonville. I sat down and sent her the information. About 2 months later I get a scolding email from someone who will remain nameless that I did not respond to Eve and for that matter no one was responding to Eve and we should be ashamed of ourselves.
Eve's phone had been disconnected when I tried to call. So I resent the email to both emails AGAIN and still no response Eve. Again I was sent another email saying how dare I not do a simple request and please in honor of Mark do it. So I sent the email for a 3rd time...still no response and still hearing I haven't sent it.
Sarah

Thanks to all who responded to my post. Eve's phone was disconnected several weeks ago, so she has to go to the library to get internet access. That makes communicating with her by e-mail difficult. Please understand that her world pretty much fell apart when Mark died. What should be simple tasks, such as seeing that the newsletter gets published, seem to overwhelm her.

Wade Lanning attempted to get the newsletter printed once, but she wanted it done a certain way and said she needed to write something for it and nothing happened. She knows it needs to get done.
I will call her on her cel phone and try to convince her that we can't put this off any longer.
David Robertson
