I'm noticing much less spam coming from our _mcca at corvair.org_
(mailto:mcca at corvair.org) e-mail which bounces to my personal e-mail. The only problem
that I had was when I would hit the "Report Spam" button and AOL would block
everything from corvair.org or something else bad. I haven't done that lately
and haven't needed to in the last month or so.
To answer your questions:
1) I'm our chapter contact to this list. Every now and then there's good
stuff here.
2) Our club operates on a calendar year cycle, dues due in Jan. New members
get a pro-rated rate after June and we let them stay for free after Sept or
Oct. We are somewhat laid back about dues. We have yet to receive a "bill" from
our newsletter editor and our meeting place is free. We have had some fund
raisers and as far as I know, everyone pays dues with in a couple of months.
That even includes the folks we see one (or less) time a year.
3) We have 50 or 60 dues paying members mostly in Kansas. We do have a
couple in OK and even one in NE. One former local still pays dues despite living
in FL. Typically we have between 15 and 25 members at our monthly meetings.
There's a core of 10 or so and the rest are the "come when they can" members.
Since our members are scattered over hundred of miles, we don't see some for
years. We always make a big deal to welcome them when we do see them.
4) Membership in CORSA is not required for our club. I can't think of any
regulars or near regulars (no one is an irregular :^) ) that are not members. We
had a CORSA membership drive a couple of years ago. One couple said they had
the paperwork filled out but needed a stamp to mail it in. The club
secretary immediately provided them with a stamp.
5) Harry sends out the forms in April (?)
6) Our newsletter goes out in both e-mail and USPS. The hardcopy version is
in black and white (much more inferior). We can not go all e-mail because
several of our members are computerless and some still have dial-up connections(
all that's available in many rural areas). Our newsletter editor, Terry Kalp,
has never asked to be reimbursed for print and mailing the newsletter. That
fact alone get's him my vote for member of the year (we don't have a member
of the year, but Terry also opens his shop to our club 3 times a year for our
Tunas and is a great asset to our club in many ways). We also make our
newsletter available on our club web site (_www.kansascorvairs.org_
(http://www.kansascorvairs.org) ).
