FOR SALE: Bruce Carlton's 1967 Corvair full blown track car. One of the fastest Corvairs in the country. Won FTD at Lime Rock, Pocono, Summit Point, and Monticello at time trials conducted by NECC Motorsports, just to name a few. If you are looking for one of the fastest SCCA vintage race cars in the country, this is the one. Price $13,900. 

The car is built from a 1967 Monza and the original chassis was in above average condition.

It has a full cage from end to end-- bars extending to frame members in trunk and engine compartment. 

Fuel cell mounted in the front trunk area--- 10 or 12 gallons 

Front and rear carbon fiber deck lids, pin mounted 

Carbon-kevlar drivers seat -- 8 lb including mounting rails 

15 x 7 aluminum Real Wheels brand wheels. 5 wheels included.

2007 lb total weight last time it was scaled 

Fiberglass crossmember for mounting front of drivetrain 

3.55 posi diff with a double close ratio trans and a lightweight puck type clutch disc.  A special autocross transmission is available with a lower ratio 3rd gear for less gap between 2nd and 3rd. 

The suspension is all heim jointed and has Warren LeVeque's rear camber kit so you do not have to run as much static rear camber as a stock suspension requires. Rear tires last longer. (1/2 degree neg static)


Engine -- 3.1 liter Weber carbed


Estimated 250 HP never dynoed, but estimated from performance 

Very strong from 4000 to 7000 RPM 


All oil passage turns radiused, passages under main bearings enlarged, main bearings have additional holes for better oiling 

Front oil cooler with Accusump for preoiling engine for cold startup 

94 mm VW cylinders with forged pistons and reworked VW forged rods

The block has the tiebolt holes enlarged (drilled and reamed) for 1/2 in. Allen bolts. The bolts are a "push fit" to form 8 additional dowels for the block or case. 

The heads started as 140 heads but are fully ported with larger intake and exhaust valves and fabricated bolt-on intake manifolds that have individual runners for each cylinder.  Weber carbs bolt directly on these manifolds. 

The exhaust side has 1 1/2 in slant tube exhausts with modified Corvair headers. 

Car also has 4 wheel Wildwood 4 piston caliper disc brakes dialed in with brake proportioning valve in car.


This is a full out track car with all the top notch gear.
