CORSA 2012: Concours day/date

Good morning all,

I'm not sure if this is really up for vote, or just a survey of our
opinions. But here is mine either way.

I would choose to have the concours on Saturday as originally
planned. If it is moved, then the theme-of-the-day concept for the
convention is (somewhat) lost. I'll say that from the suggestions I've
read so far, doing the concours on Friday, leaving the 'wash and show'
on Saturday and allowing the concours cars to be set up as part of the
wash and show display if the owner so chooses is the best compromise
I've heard so far.

I still think we should be able to do this in one day, as many
other shows I've been to (AACA Fall Hershey, Hemming Concours of New
England) seem to do.

Maybe we've allowed our scoring and number of categories to get too
complicated. If we have 50 categories and only 48 cars, then everyone
is a winner, but no one is a winner. Real competition requires multiple
entries, so that winning a class means something. Getting into the
Superbowl wouldn't be quite as meaningful if only 3 teams were in the
league. However, that is an issue for a different day.

While I'm not seriously suggesting it, I would rather see the
Saturday night event be a huge Corvair celebration, and skip the awards
altogether, except MAYBE an announcement of the Cole winners. I'm
basing this on how many banquets I've been too that I can't wait for the
awards to be over so I can go back to chatting with friends old and
new. I feel that people seem to be resigned to go to the banquet, but
don't look forward to the awards, except for the category/categories
that they (or their friends) are in. I've certainly chatted with people
at the banquet who dread the long award ceremony.

Regards,
Tim Schwartz
