i have tried it all with failures also, this stuff works best so far. i used  
assembly lube with a touch of moly in it. i even had ok luck with the pilot 
bearings clarks quit selling. the trick was getting them installed without 
distorting. i have had units apart that failed in a short time with grease ipacked 
in bushing area(got onto the disk etc). i think some failures are because the 
shaft nose is not smooth enough or worn too small. get yer mics out.
