I've found you're right. I've worked at alinement shops and seen some real hacks. That's not always the case though. Check around with car people in your area for a good shop and just have them put it on the rack. Then check it out yourself. You can do alinements just fine at home with home made tools though in fact I do alinement work sometimes right at the race track.
