Thanks for the tips everyone.  I found a plastic plug in a hardware store across town today.  Snapped right in.

try a radio supply house. they have plugs that size for chassis work in
steel, aluminum and screened for vents. otherwise a used parts
emporiom(junkyard)
should have assortments of plastic ones. on my rampy and van i brazed a
piece
of steel in top shroud to fill dipstick hole. looks good. regards
