Charles,

  I had a Greenbrier with 110 hp heads and a GM 304 cam. I had great difficulty keeping it from pinging, even on Premium, without retarding the spark so much it ran poorly. It got great mileage, so probably was jetted lean. The easiest thing to try would be jetting a little richer and checking the vacuum advance(may be getting too much).
  I replaced that engine with a 95 hp using an Isky 260 cam. It runs great on 51 jets and never pings with more advance cranked in.
  I have a Rampside with a 110hp using an HEI distributor and a Sealed power replacement cam. It requires premium. but does not ping. Very strong runner. I have no idea what the ignition advance curve might be.

  Good Luck,
  Bil Wells

  Hi everyone;
I was talking to a guy that use to be a mechanic at a GM Chevy Dealership Service Garage for a number of years and the question I had was how can I wean my Greenbrier from 93% to 94 % octain to just regular gas and his respone was it is hard to change over a 140 or 160 hp to just reg but a120 hp dose not have the harden valves and it can run on reg gas.
What are you all think about this is it bunk or is he right, need your input!
email me at cber1944 at yahoo.com or call me 419-782-5404.
