One thing you all should remember, especially if your vehicle has normal
license plates (non-historic), is that the original lenses were reflective
(as mandated by federal or state laws). Use of anything else could subject
you to a ticket by the local gendarmes...... Don't ask me how I know

If one winds up with some clear tail light lenses they wish were red, 

find some Krylon Stained Glass paint part # 6020, a transparent red, 

that works well on plastic and glass. For outdoor/indoor use, it drys to 

the touch in less then 30 mins.

Meaning you could probably fab some new lenses up out of clear Lexan 

sheet, and paint them, or get sheet material in whatever color you'd 

like, but since the oem lenses are flat to start with, I'd think this 

wouldn't be an improbable task.
