Scott
I am afraid that you are up against the engineering brilliance of Chevrolet here. The designers of the engine have the oil pan bridging over the bottom of two separate pieces of the drivetrain:- the engine block and the bellhousing. No matter what you do, I believe the two pieces are going to be vibrating at different frequencies, and this is going to cause leaks. In my case the motor has never been run in the car and it already leaks small amounts of oil jst siutting in nthe oil pan AND it has the special aliminum oilpan that you describe. My method of coping has been to make a drip pan from a fiberglass cafetria tray from the hospital and cut pieces of cardboard to fit inside it. After the oil soaks through the cardboard, I drain it into an empty oil bottle and use it to fill my chainsaw oil jug and various oil cans around my garage. These are wonderful machines, Scott,I really enjoy them, but I do not look for a clean garage floor.
