[FC] Alternator -- One-Wire, again

Speaking from the hot rod world, note that a true one-wire is not just
any internally regulated alternator, but truly hooks up with one and
only one wire (it goes to the battery). That said, the latest thing in
getting your one-wire alternator on your hot rod to work the way many
customers want it to work (rather than like a show only car) is to add a
kit to it that essentially turns it back into a standard three wire
internally regulated alternator. The three wire type will run your Fan
idiot light without a bunch of fuss -- numerous online directions for
hooking it up.

My current advice is forget the "true" one-wire thing for any rig you
plan on driving regularly, or be prepared for a funny alternator.
