[FC] 8 vs 12 Plate Oil Cooler Question!!

the 64 van (beatrice) i did last winter had an original 12 plate cooler  
with top FC shroud set up for it. (belt guard , no oil dipstick hole , but  
extension for the cooler )  i have no reason to think it was not factory  
(only 26,000 miles ) 
i usually put folded fin on all of my motors.
my 64 coupe with A/C apparently had the same original 12 plate also.
i never researched originality on them before.
