[FC] Clutch Linkage Help Needed

I have a 1961 Rampside with a 140 and a  4 speed that I have been restoring for the past few years and the last mechanical piece of the project is not cooperating.  I cannot get the clutch cable adjusted even close to working.  The clutch rod seems fine and the clutch cable moves freely, but I would have to over tighten the cable to the point that I cannot insert the pin in to secure it.  It seems that the clutch cable is about an inch too short to work. I pulled the cable from the front of the truck to test it and it moves freely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
