Yep.  The more important question is putting it back together :-)  It 
can be done, but is a bit labor intensive.

Really all you need is the diff.  Three and four speed are the same, 
available in 3.27:1 and 3.55:1.  I may have a good spare, but would 
have to look.

Before you do any of the above, I'd call the Corvair Ranch and ask them 
how much for a good used one installed.  The Greenbrier had a loose 
pinion - which BTW had the same symptoms as yours - and the price fell 
into the "when can I drop it off?" range.  As an aside, it basically 
sounded like we were being followed by a helicopter.
