Almost certainly due to a lack of ZDDP.  The new SM "Energy  
Conserving" oils have reduced ZDDP (roller lifters don't need as  
much).  There are several oils out there with enough for flat tappet  
cams, you're looking for about 1200 ppm.  You can get additive  
bottles of the stuff as well.
