[V8Vairs] Who has the most recently started V-8 conversion?

My project began technically in 2002 with the Ebay purchase of a '66 Corsa
140 coupe (with a 110 installed and a trunk full of parts). I drove it for
the length of the registration and then filed for non-operation with the DMV
and stored it thinking about a resto-mod. I've had Corvairs or Corvair
powered vehicles since '71 and this was just another. But then I looked
back at all of my previous 'Vairs and thought "Gee, I could've had a V8!".
But circumstances had never been 'right' with either no time and/or money.
Well, things change and this year I find myself in a garage with room, the
money to do it and only the time as an issue. So I'm determined to build a
Corv8.
I rejoined a local club with several enthusiastic V8 members which helped me
to decide to get the ball rolling. I've had the opportunity to be around
Kelmarks, Crowns and Archibalds SuperVair. After talking to Archibald
(practically a neighbor) and Jim Acker I've decided to build a
non-traditional mid-engine. I closely followed Jim Ackers build and then
bought a Porsche 930 transaxle which I will run inverted. I've also
acquired all of the Kennedy parts to mount a Chevy LS? to it. Archibald and
I are now discussing methods to fabricate a rear suspension that will handle
well on the street and take the torque. Still lots to be decided, but It's
a start.
The coupe is now sitting on an EZcarlift, pretty much a shell except for
glass. There are a few rust issues to resolve and things like stock tank or
fuel cell, and what kind of cooling system before I cut holes. But it's
going to happen.

I began seriously a couple of years ago. It's a Crown with a SBC. I've
collected about all of the parts with great advice from Mike Levine. I'm
starting to assemble the parts into a car. It's going much slower than
I'd like but should accelerate now that my wife and I are alone with the
dogs.

I'm using original Crown parts with no modern changes. I'm having enough
trouble getting things going without delays caused by innovation. Mike's
Crown car is a superb race car with Crown and Corvair parts and I hope
to build a similar, if slower and much less powerful, car.
